Steve played out of his skin at Leeds, he carried his through thick and thin. Deserves all the credit for what he has done. Player manager Surf has been an inspiration to all the PNE squad. Surf is a great leader on and off the park.

Steve has played over 80 games for the PNE fans team at the end of the 2006/07 season. His personal goal is to reach 100 games. Steve has still got the gift of the gab, even though his team mates tell him to take a rest, he just carrys on playing!

Never had much confidence as a school boy then one day our school team were short of a player and my PE master ask me to play and i think i did alright because he asked me to play every week after that and they were a good side. I played against Mark Lawrenson when he was at Catholic Collage had a good battle with him. Played against Simon Barker formerly of QPR and Blackburn i scored two that day and he was suppose to be making me. I was being watched by both Burnley and Chelsea my manager told me after training one day and was invited for trials but unfortunately being the pratt i was in those days came of my Scooter on a level crossing in the snow and that was that.

6 months later I was back playing football for Bamber Bridge (now in the unibond league) and played in the same team as Dave Lancaster who went on to play for Chesterfield and Blackpool. I won nearly every honour in armature football before i retired nearly 10 years ago.

I came out of retirement to managed the old message board team and we created one hell of a side. In our last game we beat a North End select 11 including Julian Derby, Simon Davey and Ryan Kidd by 7 goals to 3.

So I am thrilled that we have started another team up and on a personal note i still find it amazing that i can last the 90 min's as i did last Saturday. Hopefully we can get this team up to the standard that we got the old message board team up to. It will take a while and it will be a lot of hard work but i' am sure we can do it.
