North End now faced Crystal Palace in the quarter final. Preston didn't look one bit tired and took the game straight to the London side. Chris Chambers gave Preston the lead in the first half after some excellent work down the right flank from George and Jason.

Chambers rose highest to latch on to Jason's cross to find the post with his header, he made sure by smashing the ball into the net. George finished off the tiring Palace with a close diving header to send Preston through to the semi final against WBA.
