Preston North End started their first game at WorldNET 2008 against 2006 IFA Cup final opponents Notting Forest. North End took an early two goal lead, thanks to goals from Chris Chambers and George Pennington.

Forest pegged Preston back, leveling the game at 2-2 after some sloppy defending. The winning goal came towards the end of the match, a sweet volley from James Walker, which sealed a dream start for the Lilywhites.
