5-2
A close game at times but in the end we had enough in our locker to pull away from them when we had to!
I thought we played a lot more football than we did against Burnley and deservedly went 2-0 in front but our continuing problem of not putting games to bed when we are in control came back to haunt us. At 2-0 we were buzzing and playing good football good enough to earn us decent praise from the sidelines but chances good chances including one from 6 yards out with no pressure were either missed or carelessly put wide.
A free kick needlessly give away gives them a lifeline and superb header from their center forward gets them back to 2-2 and had us rocking on our heels. Those two Sheffield goals were the only two chances they had but it was enough..
Thankfully we can step it up a gear when we have to and a mazy run by the old git at right back who was by now spitting feathers with what had gone on lol saw him disposed on the edge of the box only for Jason follow up cross to be put away by Stu whose runs to the near post are beginning to pay of for us. Further goals by impressive midfield players Jimmy Higgins and Matty Scott finally put the game out of sight of the Sheffield lads.
I must give credit to the Sheffield Utd lads for hanging on in there and for making us pay for our missed chances. Again credit to my lads for coming back from the disappointment of losing a two goal lead to finally put the game to bed in the second half.
Preston Man of the match Jimmy Higgins, Jimmy is an immense player for us now and when he and Matty are on the game we look good and strong. Thanks to Gaz for going up front and Stu for getting over the disappointments of those early misses to put us back in front. Well done also to the lads at the back we had our hands full with their big lad up front but we kept a high line for most of the game and our two full backs knocked some quality balls down the line and into the box lol Jason as always was different class and earned his two goals
Another tough game but another win and with Millwall breathing down our necks we have to keep it going.
Cheers lads and thanks to Gaz Hargreaves for coming down and giving me the freedom to enjoy the game on the pitch instead of off it.
Cheers guys
