All the hard work that was meant for Hibs was gratefully taken up by a Burnley   team who were determined to stop a Preston side reaching yet another Cup Final.   The game played on Preston impressive training pitch was watch by PNE youth team   and head of IFA John Boocock. Also in attendance were BBC Radio   lancashire
	    
	    This semi final tie was brought forward because of a late   cancellation by Hibs who were due to meet Preston in the quarter final if the   IFA British Cup. The weather could not have been better as both sides prepared   to renew their local rivalry. The early pressure came from Preston but was   thwarted by a resolute Burnley defence. In an even first half the only   breakthrough came from Preston who took the lead after a superb individual goal   by Preston James Walker
	    
	    1-0 at half time was soon turn into 2-0 shortly   after the break. The timing of the goal clearly had an effect on the Burnley   team and for the next 20 mins Preston pilled on the agony for Burnley with   another 4 goals. Burnley to their credit refused to throw in the towel and in   the last 15 mins scored a deserved consolation goal. 
	    
	    6-1 the final   scoreline was a bit harsh on the Burnley lads but some of the football played by   the Preston lads was of a high calibre and good to watch
