You think reading this that is was a complete one sided affair with some
poor goals against a poor team (I have played in few games like that) but
you could not be further from the truth if you were thinking that?
Ipswich Town (and we have played them every year since we came into the league 4 years ago) had in my opinion their strongest team out to date and they were well up for this game. They had some strong players on show and their goalkeeper was excellent and after the first 10 mins you would never have guess the game was to reach such a score line yet in the next 18 mins we hit them with four wonder strikes to suddenly fine ourselves 4-0 in front. I don't know who was more shell shock us or them.
They were unbelievable goals yet in the same period they hit the woodwork twice and had two goals disallowed. It was unreal but we were playing like men possessed, our movement and passing belonged somewhere else as we just ripped into Ipswich every time we went forward. Just one more goal from us before half time a chest down and a volley from 25 years adding to the other four great strikes saw us go in at the break 5 nil to the good!
Ipswich came out the second half with the wind advantage and continued to
bite in to every tackle and ask questions of us yet every time we broke one of
our forwards would either get on to a through ball or a cross and smack home
a great goal. It was unreal! I said to their guys at the end of the game that we have never ever played better or scored goals like this before! Winning WorldNET as done wonders for us and you can see the confidence running
through the team!
I hope you don't mind me waxing lyrical about my PNE team but we are going
through a special time for us at the moment and we are all really enjoying our
football. I know a couple of defeats will bring us back down to earth but at
this moment in time we are playing the beautiful game and scoring some
wonderful goals in the process! It was a pleasure to watch my team play on Saturday and I am sure the Ipswich lads will come on and mention that fact.
Thanks to Martin who has now taken over from James as the new manger. He had a good squad down there on Saturday and that argues well for their future. Thanks also to the Ipswich lads for battling on to the end, they never once let their heads go down and deserve a lot of credit for their honesty and
commitment.
We then went on to Portman Road the home of Ipswich Town to watch our senior team come from behind to beat a good Ipswich Town team by 2 goals to 1.
