3-2
It was good to see so many lads down today even if it did put me under a bit of pressure lol but it was pressure that any manger would gladly take. It was also good to start the game with the majority of lads who had made the trip to West ham a couple of weeks ago.
We won the toss and went with the wind and we soon raced into a 2-0 lead and if you have to be honest the game like the senior teams game should have been out of sight by half time. Saying that Burnley when they had the chance put some real quality into our box and their shooting was also first class so it was no surprise to see them grab a goal just before the break. The half time whistle went shortly after and it was Burnley who left the field with their tails up.
Half time we made a couple of substitutions I felt this was the right thing to do and it was no disrespect to the lads that went off but i new Burnley would come at us a bit more so we just needed a bit more quality on the ball.
The second half started with Burnley with the wind at their backs taking the game to us but we slowly began to see more of the ball has our ball retention had improved and we were now getting the ball out to the flanks a lot more than we did in the first half. So it no surprise when we scored a good passing goal to make it 3-1.
A few more substitutions didn't affect us but again you have to give Burnley a lot of credit for refusing to give up and they pinned us back once again scoring a goal from an acute angle. The final 15 min's were a bit tense but we managed to hang on to what i thought was a deserved victory.
Thanks to Kev and his Burnley lads for their efforts today, they were fully committed and played some quality football. They are light years ahead of us in comparison to where we were at the same stage in our first year so well done to them for that
