Preston
North End made the short trip to Mersyside to play hosts Tranmere
Rovers. Preston took a strong team to Tranmere looking to come
away with three points.
North
End made a bright start to the match, taking the game right
to Tranmere from the off. The hosts couldn't handle the slick
passing game of the visitors. Many chances were created in
the first half. North End couldn't find the killer shot in
the opening 20 minutes.
Preston
playing in all yellow kept their heads and stuck to their game.
The openings started to come only for the Tranmere keeper to
make some good saves to keep Preston at bay. The break through
finally game towards the end of the first half as Allan scored
a sensational goal.
Allan
failed to take an earlier chance in the game but he made amends
with a stunning strike from 25 yards which flew into the top
corner of the net, everyone on the pitch was amazed. North
End kept the level of football up right to the whistle which
ended the first half.
During
the first half there was some excellent football on show. There
was lots of good movement on the ball, Tranmere found it hard
to deal with. Tranmere were playing with one striker up front,
North End's back line dealt with everything.
Preston
started the second half where they left off, keeping the pressure
on the hosts. North End kept breaking away through the middle
of the park. The midfield of Jason, Lewis, Johnny and Potter
were having a cracking game threading, creating some good opportunities
for Allan and Ash.
The
rear guard of Atky, Steve, Alex and Mike were also running
the show from the back. Tranmere had one or two efforts on
goal, nothing really bothering Chris in the Preston goal.
It
was Ash who came on in the first half for Andy that grabbed
the second goal of the game. The goal came from a dashing run
from Jason. Dodwell Jnr's striker came back off the post, Ash
who was in the right place at the right time smashed the rebound
into the net.
Preston
made some subs towards the end of the game. Jimmy, Dan, Jimmy
Pete and Des all came on for the remainder of the match whom
all played a part in the game.
North
End never stopped playing their football, when North End went
three goals to the good. The third and final goal of the game
came from a corner kick. Jason crossed the ball into the box
for player manager Steve nodding the ball into the net at the
near post.
North
End completed a resounding victory against Tranmere Rovers
in fine fashion. Coming away from Tranmere with all three points
was something to be proud of after an excellent performance.
Well done to Ash for getting his second goal for the team and
picking up the Man Of The Match award.
