North End fell to their first defeat of the season. Steve Cowell's Preston side playing in yellow face a good Sheffield United team. The pitch was ready ahead of PNE Online FC's second league match of the season.

Preston found it hard to get into the game, with Sheffield United having most of the possession early on. North End almost found themselves a goal behind. The hosts found away through the Preston defence.

It was a nice move which came from midfield, a late run by one of the Sheffield United defenders caught the PNE watching as he latched onto the ball. The Utd defender did well but put his shot wide of keeper Jimmy's left post.

North End whom were missing top goal scorer Andy Dodwell looked to winger Johnny for the strikes on goal. Johnny himself had two long range shots on goal, both going inches over the bar.

Sheffield United took the lead after a defensive mix up. North End failed to clear the ball in their own 18 yard box as the Sheffield Utd striker whacked the ball into the back of the net from close range.

Prior to Sheffield Utd's goal, right winger Potter almost put Preston ahead. The ball was played into the box from the right wing. The Utd defense failed to clear as the ball broke to Potter. Potter got contact on the ball but not enough to steer it over the line.

Preston found it hard to get hold of the ball in the middle of the park, the team seem to hesitate on the ball letting some shots on goal which failed to trouble Jimmy in the PNE goal.

The second half saw some changes to the PNE line up, striker Des coming off for Virtex. Atky also came off midway into the second half for Lewis and Stewart to make their debuts.

Few chances were created in the second half from both teams. It was the two set of defence's that played outstanding, especially John, Dan and Dave who made a great partnership at the back. Mike and player manger Steve held the midfield well with Bradley covering well on the right.

New players Lewis and Stewart played excellent and molded into the team shape well. Pete and Des worked tireless up front but failed to get a clear break through. Goal keeper Jimmy who was making his first start for the team made a great save from a corner to keep the score at 1-0.

The match was even, North End almost claimed a draw in the final moments of the game. Virtex was played in down the left side, he turned his marker to put himself through on goal. Virtex picked his spot, released his shot only for it to come crashing off the upright.

An excellent display all round, taking into account some of the key players for the team were away on holiday.
