PNE
1-5 Bury
First
Half
Preston
gave an excellent account of themselves, taking the lead early
on. Jason, who was making his first appearance for the team
rounded the Bury keeper to make it 1-0 to the whites.
Preston
went on to dominate the majority of the first half as the Bury
players were getting frustrated with Preston's neat passing
game. Preston could have gone 2-0 up from a free-kick 20 yards
out. The Eddie Lewis style free-kick was destined for the top
left corner, but came crashing off the crossbar.
Bury
equalised totally against the run of play. Preston failed to
clear the ball in the final third only for a Bury player to
place it in the right corner. Preston kept the pressure on
Bury, spreading the ball well across the field. It was a great
defensive show for Preston, with both centre backs keeping
Bury at bay.
Second
Half
Manager
Surf made a few changes at half time, to give Preston some
fresh legs. Preston kept battling away, creating some good
chances to get back in the lead. The match was level at 1-1
for the first 20 minutes of the first half, but the fitness
of the Bury players showed. Des, playing upfront has a good
effort on goal whilst under pressure from the Bury defence.
Pete made an excellent goal line clearance, adding to the solid
performance from the back four.
Preston
pushed up for another goal, but was punished on the break by
Bury. In the end, Preston conceded some sloppy goals as the
score line finished 1-5 to Bury.
Overall
this was a massive improvement from the first match against
Bury, when they won 16-0. Thanks to everyone that turned up
to play, we all had a great day once again. Preston can now
look forward to next Saturdays match against Tranmere Rovers. |
