Preston
North End 4-1 Tranmere Rovers
With
only 12 players available for selection the team basically
pick it's self for this morning friendly game against Tranmere
Rovers. Winning the toss Preston kicked off towards the "Savick
End".
Early
possession by Preston failed to trouble the Tranmere defence
and it was the visitors who slowly got a hold of the game without
really troubling the Preston keeper Chris Hall. An even first
half was brought to a close with both sides having their moments
without really threatening to score.
The
Preston Manager made one substitution at half time bringing
on Nick Blades for Dave and within 4 minutes of the restart
Preston went ahead, Dan who was making his first start up front
for the yellows made the most of a mix up in the Tranmere back
line to run the ball into the empty net.
Preston
now began to open up the Tranmere defence and it was no surprise
when they went 2-0 up with a goal by Allan Cookson but credit
to Tranmere for sticking to the task and they deservedly reduce
the lead with a well taken header from a corner kick.
But
Preston were always capable of raising their game and two quality
moves near the end saw Andy Dodwell and Johnny Kershaw add
further goals to make the final score 4-1 to Preston.
Des
who was making his debut rounded of a good performance by being
awarded the Man of the Match trophy.
