10-0 Blackburn Rovers
Preston North End hosted close neighbours Blackburn
Rovers for the first match between the two sides. The game was
played at a different venue, taking place in Bamber Bridge.
It was a game where goals we're the order of the day. North
End bagging ten over the 90 minutes. Rovers are in the same position
that we found ourselves in this time last year. Our first ever
match ended in a 16-0 drubbing against Bury.
We've come on leaps and bounds since that first match, look
where we are now! Allan scored the first goal for North End.
Andy floated a ball to the back post. Allan connected with his
head, the initial header hit the post, but the ball hit is leg
from the rebound and trickled into the net.
Matty made the score line 2-0 to Preston with a well placed
shot into the bottom right corner of the goal. North End went
in at half time 5-0 up. The next three goals came from a neat
shot from Chris, a penalty from Pete and an own goal.
Atky came on at half time and slotted in a right back. Preston
went on to score another five goals in the second half. The pick
of the bunch was Chris's forth goal of the day. Matty picked
the ball up from midfield and chipped the ball into Chris's path.
Chris directed a first time header over the keeper and into
the back of the net. Andy scored his 39th goal of the season
with a penalty from Des and two more goals from Chris wrapping
up the scoring.
Although Rovers have only just formed, Preston looked the part
against their rivals. North End will now go into their IFA Cup
semi-final match with confidence of getting some sort of result.
