Farnborough Town 0-8 Preston North End

North End were all set for their second match in two days. Farnborough Town was the opposition this time round, playing in Aldershot. The lads were buoyed after the professionals put in a excellent performance to get a 1-1 draw.

The line up against Farnborough was slightly different, the subs against Southampton started the match. Atky, Jonny Ellithorn, Jonny Wallace, Alex Higgins all started the match. Preston faced today’s opponents at WorldNET 06, coming away 4-0 winners.

North End started the match wearing their all yellow strip. The first half was all North end from the off, Preston showed their quality going forward. Andy Dodwell was rested as Jonny Kershaw pushed up to play along side Chris Chambers.

It took the yellows around 25 minutes to grab their first goal, guess who. It was Chris Chambers who was in on the act once again, lobbing the on rushing keeper to give Preston a deserved lead. North End battled away in the first half, as they had the majority of the possession.

Farnborough were playing a long ball system which was dealt with well by a makeshift defence of Atky, Tim, Alex Higgins and Jim Higgins. Chris was at it again, North End’s new hit man found the net after terrible mix up by Farnborough. Chris said thank you very much as he tapped the ball home.

The first half came on an end, Preston well on top. Chris in goal didn’t have much to do to at all in the first 45. The second half saw an unchanged line-up. Jonny “PNE” Ellithorn kept his place after an impressive first half performance. North End kept their shape well throughout the match, which paid off.

Preston went three goals ahead when Chris Chambers lobbed the onrushing keeper to get his second hat-trick goal in two days. Once North End went 3-0, Steve Cowell made some substitutions. Atky came off for Pete, Jimmy Higgins came off for Andy Jonny Wallace game off for Steve himself. Jason replace Jonny Ellithorn.

Jonny Kershaw dropped back to left wing, as Andy partnered Chris up front. It didn’t take Andy long to find the net, his first goal of the weekend. Andy broke through on goal to slot the ball home to put his side 4-0 up. North End kept pressing as more goals came. Jonny Kershaw scored a fine header from a good cross from Pete. Jonny rose the highest to find the back of the net with a powerful header.

Alex Higgins pushed forward into a more advance roll as North End seemed comfortable. Alex found himself also on the score sheet when the ball broke loose at the back post for an easy tap in. The goals kept coming when Steve scored his second goal of the season, with a diving header. Steve just got to the ball before Andy to grab Preston’s 7th goal of the match.

Jason broke free down the right flank, his move resulting in Andy rounding things off with a neat low effort with 5 minutes on the clock. The match finished 8-0 to Preston, a fine display by all the lads involved. Farnborough were a great set of lads who treated us like gold. The lads got changed and had their photo taken a Farnborough Town F.C actual ground.

Everyone grabbed a well earned drink and a bite to eat before we headed off back home to Preston. This was another weekend that will be etched in the memories for some time to come.
