Brighton 0-4 PNE

Bloody hell lads you were something else yesterday. I am a hard man to please as you know because I always want us play the perfect game! But yesterday you were very close to doing just that.

I have got to admit when I saw the Brighton lads warming up I thought shit, it’s men against boys here. All there players looked like they could play (which they could) and they had some big lads in key positions like Center Half and Keeper and they all looked like their first touch was good.

I also saw them looking across at us and smiling to themselves probably thinking this is going to be easy but they weren't smiling at the end of the game....

I felt in our last game at Wycombe that our team play was coming together in spells and some of our football was a joy to watch. But yesterday in was good for entire 90 minutes. Their lads could play but we never gave them chance "to play", as we took the game straight to them and as my sister and her partner said after the game “Bloody hell I did not know you were that good"! And she was right but I felt were better than good!

We pinned Brighton in there own half right from the start and that’s how it staid for the next 90 minutes. We were first to the tackle we passed and moved we got at them down the flanks we switched play we held it up we brought our midfield players into the game the lads at the back kept a "high Line" Our keeper swept everything up at the back and kept the game flowing we just battered Brighton into submission.

The goals when they came were just the icing on the cake for us. When Alan rifled one in from 20 yards and it was in before their keeper moved I look across at the touchline and I could tell be the expression of the people there that they could not believe what they had just seen. It was such a powerful goal that none of us could quite believe it either, but that was just the start for us.

To there credit the Brighton midfield lads kept probing and prodding away but they were having to go so deep and get the ball that they weren't hurting us and when Johnny put one in the top corner to make it 2-0 I could see that they were stunned and could not believe what was happening to them

Another quality cross form the left flank at the start of the second half so Andy put his header away to make it 3-0 and when Leighton blasted a cross shot in the bottom corner the Brighton lads were starting to look for the final whistle as we were now running through them in packs like animals looking for the final kill.

The compliments by the Brighton team after the game were good to here. They have good lads and did Millwall twice last season and you could see why but they had no answer to our pass and move and the quality of our football and they admitted as much after the game!

We have had some great moments this season but for the sheer quality of football over a 90 minutes period this as got to be our finest moment! This was shown in the man of the match award which went to "The Entire Team" and they all deserved it.

I just wished some Preston fans that were down there early could have got along to see us because as my Sister and family (who live down there) said. "I never thought it was going to be like that when we set off to watch you, you were brilliant, and you were really really good!
