Preston North End 4-0 Farnborough

North End now entered the business end of the competition, playing new opponents Farnborough in the last 32. Steve Cowell wasn’t taking anything for granted, naming a strong team for this knock out match.

Preston started the game very well, showing their grit and determination to progress to the next round. North End playing in all yellow took the lead early on thanks to a goal from Chris Chambers. Chris netted his third goal of his WorldNET campaign.

Preston went from strength to strength as they took a two goal lead. Andy Dodwell was played in on goal after an excellent pass from midfield. Andy got on the end of the ball to toe poke the ball past the keeper, 2-0 to Preston.

Preston at this point were well in control of the game, with Farnborough not creating any clear cut chances so far. Preston manager made a number of chances, resting his key players as they looked to sail through to the next round.

One of the substitutes, Dan scored Preston’s third goal. Dan who moved to right side of midfield took one touch and volleyed the ball from 20 yards out. The ball travelled low along the ground to beat the keeper at his near post. Preston were now cruising, with the rest of the lads coming on as subs.

Chris wrapped up the proceedings for North End, smashing home his second goal of the game. This was a professional performance from Preston, never letting their focus slip. North End got what they came for, equalling last years achievement in reaching the last 16. Preston now got ready to face Aberdeen in the next round.
