Preston North End 0-0 Airdrie

North End started their WorldNET 2006 campaign against their first opponents from North of the boarder, in Airdrie. After the heroics of the IFA cup final, most of the cup final team were rested, with the subs coming into the starting line up.

North End never really got out of first gear in the opening half, as the final match and celebrations took its toll. The first half was mostly Preston, Tim coming close in the first half with a chance from a corner kick. Tim didn’t manage to keep the ball down as it went over the bar.

Preston upped their game in the second half, playing some much better football. Andy and Chris came on as subs in the second half, as Preston looked for that elusive goal. They both failed to find the target as chances were few and far between.

PNE manager Steve was happy enough with a point, the target set prior to the match. Preston will now have to get something out of the next match against Brentford to qualify to the next rounds of WorldNET 2006.
