Preston North End 0-1 Aberdeen

North End faced Aberdeen in the next round of WorldNET 20006, which was for sure going to be the hardest. The tough Scottish side were coming up against the pace and power of Preston.

The match was a tense affair, both sides playing part in a scrappy game with few chances being created. Preston took an early scare when Aberdeen broke through and hit the cross bar from the resulting shot.

Preston got their act together, looking to force their way through the Aberdeen back line. North End kept battling from midfield, looking for that killer goal. The first half continued to be a game of little chances as in ended all square at 0-0.

The Preston players came out in the second half in good spirit, looking for that winning goal. Preston played the better football in the second half of this knockout match. The North End strike force had few chances, which were dealt with by the Aberdeen keeper.

The remainder of normal time was tight, both sides holding strong and looking for the killer attack. Neither side managed to find the net as the match ended 0-0, with extra time now ahead for both teams.

Preston’s fitness told as they kept pushing for the winning goal. North End thought they were through when Andy was place through on goal. North End’s top goal scorer was odds on to score, only for his shot to hit the side netting.

Moments later North End were hit with a killer blow. Aberdeen went up the other end of the park as the Preston defence failed to clear their lines. The Aberdeen striker turned on the ball to release an unstoppable strike which sailed into the top corner of Chris’s goal.

Preston were out of WorldNET 2006, what an excellent weekend everyone for everyone involved. This was a brilliant achievement for Preston gaffer Steve, to win the IFA Cup and come so far in the WorldNET competition.

The now looked back on a fantastic weekend, taking back their medals and memories of WorldNET 2006. These good times will stay with the players of Preston North End for many years to come.
