Rochdale 2-1 Preston North End

Gutted I think the word is. We tried our best but in the end I think Rochdale were just too street wise for us. Two mistakes from our point of view also cost us dearly but saying that I just think Rochdale were to just too clever for us on the day. We tried our best to play the beautiful game and part way through the second half we did get a hold of the game, but unfortunately their second goal knocked us back on our heels and we never really recovered from that moment.

Like our defeat against Tranmere our passing let us down when we really needed to keep possession and that's something for all of you to work on. I could not fault any player for lack of effort but the league is a lot tougher this year and any mistake you make get punished. For us to move on we have cut these out and also try and retain the ball more. I feel we are giving it away to cheaply.

It was good to see Chris Chambers back and he worked hard as always but my man of the match goes to Mike Wilson. Mike had a slow start to the game but after that he got some vital tackles in and was always looking to push on to support the front lads. Well done Mike

So it’s another defeat for us one that I don't think we deserved like we didn't deserve to get beat by Tranmere but look at all those four goals we conceded in those two games and you will see that everyone could and should been prevented by us.

Hopefully we have known learnt from those errors and in the future if teams are going to score passed us let them do it themselves without a helping hand from us. Thanks to all the players for your efforts yesterday and well done to Rochdale who took the honours in a hard fought match.
