Preston North End 1-2 Tranmere Rovers

Obviously I am disappointed with the result but I new a lot of my regular lads were away but I felt this was an opportunity for other lads to play in a league game and not a friendly and gain some much needed experience. For most of the first half we were comfortable and in control, their only tactic was to catch us with the long ball but we dealt with that quite comfortable.

Half time I was happy with a 0-0 score line. I felt quite relaxed knowing that we usually come good in the second half and that we could step it up a gear. Maybe the players felt to relaxed as well because straight from the kick off one of their players walked through our midfield without even a tackle.

We escape that but the worse was to come; a weak kick from Jimmy was played straight back in and with three of our defenders closing him down and with Jimmy coming out as well the lad could not believe his luck as he fired into the empty net.

Their second was another tragedy from our point of view Jacko not knowing who was behind him and struggling to reach the ball managed to get a flick on it but with Alex coming in behind him left their lad unopened at the back post and, he to couldn't believe his luck either.

At 2-0 down we made a few changes but even though we pulled a goal back we eventually ran out of time and lost a game I thought we didn't really deserve to lose. But that's football and if you let your opponents get 2 goals ahead you’re always asking for trouble.

Credit to Rich and the Tranmere lads there a good set of lads and if honesty endeavour and working your bollocks off are the receipts you need to win a football game then they probably deserved it. Well, done Tranmere Rovers on their first ever win against us.
