Just like last week we came back from a goal down
to snatch a draw and just
like last week Hull City deserved more than the got. Both sides
stepped it up
a gear from last week’s game and Hull's "War Cry" just
before the start had
them well fired up. Hull are a good side, they have two strong
centre backs,
two gifted footballers in the middle of the park and two strong
runners up
front and just like last week they totally dominated the first
half! How we got
to half time only 1-0 down is beyond me, our keeper must have
saved at least
four one on ones.
Second half, we had to match them or we new we were out of the
cup and just
like last week we did that and with 15 mins to go we snatched
the equaliser.
After a series of corners a ball finally broke in our favour,
as the ball sat
up for him, are centre forward didn't need a second invitation
and duly
smashed home the equaliser. Neither team wanted penalties so
the last 15 mins was
frantic to say the least. It
could have gone either way but the ref finally
blew the whistle and both teams lined up on the half way
line to watch their
chosen penalties takers face their ordeal. We missed our third
giving them the chance to take the tie but the nerves got to
their final penalty taker and he balloon
his
shot over the bar. We were now into sudden death situation;
we scored, they scored, we scored and then their lad had
to score
to put pressure back on us, but you could see right away he
didn't fancy it and our goalkeeper diving to his right beat
out his nervous penalty and the tie was ours!.
Roy the big Hull Centre half said to me as we left the pitch; "we
deserved
to win at least one of these games and i agree. To be honest
we would have no complaints if they had won both of them!!!!
Hull are a great side and we know that anybody's whose any aspiration
of winning this cup will be well pleased we have knock them out.
The pitch we played at was at their Police
headquarters and was first class.
It also looks like they might
make that their home from now on? After the game we all went
to social club and we attacked the
food laid like a plague of locus. Thanks to the Hull Manager
and his lads for all their efforts and if I was them I would
be gutted but you would never have though so the way they wished
us all good luck in the next round. Even though the tackling
was off the "we take no prisoners verity" the
game was played in fantastic sprit by both side.
