Coventry City 3-7 Preston North End

To find ourselves 2-0 down to Coventry was quite puzzling to say the least, there had been nothing from them to suggest they could hurt us so for us to find ourselves 2-0 down was a quite a shock to the system.

Things could have gone even worse if it wasn't for Chris Halls outstanding goal-keeping as he saved at least two one on ones in quick succession? Coventry pass and move style was certainly hurting us but Matty decision to go out wide left meant Steve went back into centre midfield along with Jimmy Higgins.

This made us more compact and we started to get hold of the game a bit more. Two quick goals from ourselves saw us get back on level terms and it was us who was looking the stronger. A dodgy refereeing decision LOL gave Coventry a penalty this coming on top of another penalty incident which saw the resulting penalty saved by Preston Keeper Chris Hall, but this time the Coventry player made no mistake to take them into a 3-2 half time lead.

A few decisions had to made at half time to make sure we imposed ourselves on them a bit more. As is the case with us at the moment we came out after the break with all guns blazing and quickly got ourselves back on level terms.

Coventry to their credit still went for it but they were leaving a few gaps at the back giving us the chance to catch them on the break which we did with Stu hammering one in and Chambers adding another to is impressive collection of goals Atky also got on the score sheet bursting through from midfield to hammer home a great cross from Stu.

Coventry however kept plugging away and were denied another goal due to a dodgy offside side flag from Des. It was fitting however that the last say in this pulsating match belong to Preston "Man Of The Match" Chris Chambers! I have seen every one of Chris's goals since he joined us and he's scored some beauty's but this one as got to be up there with his best.

There was nothing on for him when he received the ball wide right on the edge of Coventry 18 yard box, he had his back to goal and was also being pressurized by a Coventry defender, yet in one turn he lost his marker stepped inside and unleashed a beauty. His cross shot flew into the opposite corner of the net giving the Coventry goalkeeper no chance. To be honest i don't think any keeper in the world would have saved it.

It was a stunning strike by a great player, a player who just can't stop scoring. Well done to all the lads who went to Coventry it was good to see Pesch, and Chats both get a good 45 min's in. Jacko and Martin are both doing great and will get better as we get more games in.

Stu did great and it's great to have a player who seems to be comfortable in any position i play him. Mike played with his usually panache, Matty when he finally woke up did well, Jimmy Higgins had a strong game and is a player who can really impose himself on a game.

Chris Hall was back to his best and i think i have said enough about Chambers LOL. All the lads did well, not happy about the back chat and rumblings from a few individuals but i will have a word with these lads on Wednesday. Cheers lads and our departing Chairman and Brain the kIt man both said "well done boys"
