PNE 3-2 Grimsby Town

Grimsby started like a house on fire while we were still trying to organize ourselves without the said 6 players. Grimsby took an early lead and made it two just before half time.

Even though we were 2-0 down I wasn’t to downhearted because i new we had played well especially in the last 20mins of the half so like i said to the lads in defence if you can keep them at 2 i am sure we will get back into the game. I just told the lads to step the tempo up and have soon as the whistle went to start the second half we did just that pressing them in their own half to slowly got a foothold in the game. It didn't take long for us to reduce the arrears to make it 2-1.

A good passing movement so Steve slotted one away in the bottom corner. A good team goal and we were now buzzing as we pressed them even more. A Grimsby move broke down and Steve played a peach of a 40 yard through to Andy his shot cannon back on the underside of the bar for Chambers to gleefully head back into the unguarded net. Game on

Grimsby came back at us but there was only one winner now and it was Chambers again who struck a beauty into the top corner to win the game for us by 3 goals to 2.

A massive thank you goes to the Grimsby lads for making the journey up to our place and more importantly for their kind comments about us after the game. It meant a lot to me, they are a great bunch of lads and it was great to have a few beers with them after the game.

I felt it was a great occasion, with both teams playing their hearts out and then all having something to eat after the game and sharing a few beers as well. The players who didn't turn up well it's there loss and you missed out big time, but the players who did turn up thank you for your efforts today.
