Blackburn Rovers came to Springfield’s for the second meeting between the two sides. It was a swift winter morning, excellent conditions for a local derby.

Rovers might not be the toughest opponents in the league, but Preston had to go about their game in the same way they have done all season. Preston manager Steve Cowell named a strong squad for the visit of Blackburn.

Preston playing in all yellow started the game well, creating chances from the off. It took Preston half way through the first half to break the deadlock. Jonny Kershaw found himself on the end of a good Preston move to open the scoring.

The floodlights opened as the Rovers player’s heads dropped. Further goals from Chris Chambers took the game away from the visitors. Matty scored what was probably the best individual goal of the season so far. Matty jinked his way past the Blackburn defence to nod the ball home from a tight angle.

Chris Chambers added to his goal tally with two quick fire strikes to make the score line 5-0.Andy Dodwell managed to find himself on the score sheet, again finishing a good Preston move.

Steve Cowell made some changes in the second half, bringing on a few substitutions. The match was already comfortable for Preston. Chris finished the game off, netting two more goals to make it five for the game, taking him now only six goals away from the overall top goalscorer.

Preston can now look forward to a tougher test when they face West Ham next weekend on route to Southend.

“Managers Comments”

I thought we did really well today. We can improve our work off the ball but saying i thought today was a great effort by everybody. Today’s game was just what we needed as we embark on two tough away matches. It's a pity a few of the lads can't be with us namely Mick, Tim, John Orton and Chris Hall.

It's a bit like North End losing Chilvers St Ledger, Carlo Nash and Matty Hill LOL. But we have to get on with it and we will give it our best shot I m sure of that and hopefully all that we have learnt today wont be forgotten by next week, and Chris Hall shut the FUCK UP when we are doing our team talks you muppet LOL. Gaz thinks your "potty" LOL

A Special Mention must go to young Dale for his efforts today, I was willing that shot to go in for him really though he had scored!!!!!! But never mind mate keep working at it and I am sure one day it will happen for you but well done anyway mate.
